First Entry, Motivation and the Future
JOURNAL ENTRY!!! WOW!!! i took a bit too long deciding how to do this and just went with individual pages per entry
it quite literally seemed like the easiest approach, we'll see in like half a year if i was right though (can't wait for this to be a big mess lol)
anyways, hello! to many of the viewers of this site, this is likely the first time y'all have seen me yap in a blog-like style. I don't actually often write diary entries because i always forgot after the first week, but since this is a digital one and i actually like typing in comparison to writing, i probably won't forget; hehe
wow, how do i even open this up? my awkwardness shows even through text...
(and do excuse my scuffed english, it isn't my first language by technicality)
Well, the first thing to talk about is this site's future. I've decided from the beginning that this will serve as an archive of all my work, but i think it would be more accurate to call this basically my personal room in this niche corner of the internet. I mean, i'm going to have journal entries here after all.
So, yes, as the updates go by, expect this site to basically be the main hub to find me in (other than Discord, which is a whole other topic...) for big updates and all that; maybe i'll keep shorter updates in Bluesky though, or a Discord server?
Ah, Discord...
The "recent" news surrounding discord makes me feel grim about staying on the site, but since all my friends and the game devs i follow still stay on discord, i'll reluctantly stay. If anything worse comes out then I guess i'll have to leave that platform too (already a tough thing to do considering there aren't any good alternatives, afaik...)
Which, brings me to my next topic, motivations!!!
This will be a bit more of a serious topic, so you're free to skim past it.
However, i can't help but feel that recently, doing anything that is even slightly linked back to being creative has felt irritating because there is ALWAYS the nagging fruit in the back of your mind that's reminding you of AI. It genuinely sucks that no matter how hard I try ignoring it, reminders of its existance just keep popping up.
And it's a shame, really. I love being creative, I love writing, developing, and all the other stuff that I do for fun, but... like, AI just had to be there to ruin the vibe, y'know?
I do wish that it devolves down and society as a whole can get past the "AI will replace your Job!!!" bullshit, but who knows? I don't decide what society thinks.
It's really sad to see that someone like me (who, by the way, ISN'T EVEN IN THEIR 20'S) has to be worrying about this stuff.
Oh well, for now at least, I'm still having quite a lot of fun doing what I do, more specifically- game and web development!
I very much love messing around in Roblox Studio- I believe this is the farthest i've been in the development cycle of a project i've made, since There's no need for me to worry about modelling and character design as I have a friend to help me in that aspect! All i need to do is focus on scripting and map building, which despite being rather difficult to grasp has been really fun!
And don't get me started on Ren'py... even though i have zero sprites (well... zero completed ones, i've a lot of incomplete doodles) for Frozen Fates, my main project before i had moved to Roblox Studio, i actually think the story i had there was interesting!
EHEM, it is painfully outdated, and you could tell just by a glance that it was basically a knockoff Danganronpa, but my unique take on it did make it more interesting! I want to do an honest return to that project once I've developed Partitioners (my Roblox project) to a playable ALPHA state.
Speaking of Partitioners, I'm actually doing rather well on scripting stuff so far, but that's mostly because I've only tackled the simple concepts. When i get to having to use RemoteEvents and stuff, i'm going to be massively cooked.
I don't have Partitioners' story written down yet, but I do have a vague plan that I want to share once I've fleshed it out a bit more! I do love me some Tower Defense with intriguing story; Looking at you Arknights.
ironically, Arknights is one of my main inspirations when it comes to the game mechanics, lol
Anwyays, i think that's where I'll end off my first Journal Entry. I do hope that you all look forward to more updates from me!
Have a fruity time out there, everyone! ;]
